Pie & Bread Co.
History

Our family business is anchored by simple principles-make every product as well as you can, price it fairly, guarantee it and do whatever it takes to please your customers. These principles of doing business have been in our family for years.

The bakery business is in our genes! In 1886, our great, great grandfather, Irvin Palm, married Hannah Lodge. Mr. Palm and his family of 8 children were engaged in the baking business. At first in the retail and later in the wholesale. Located at West Harrison Street in Chicago. At one time he owned one of the largest bakeries in Chicago.

After the World's Exhibition in 1893 and the efforts of the National Biscuit Co. to unionize the bakery trade, hard times hit. Mr. Palm worked hard and soon built up his business. Eventually he sold the bakery and went to work for the Grenman Baking Company.

Established in 1979, Emma Krumbee's continues the tradition of providing superior Bakery products. Over the past twenty years our bakery has grown from a one-oven and 40 quart mixer in the kitchen of one of our restaurants to a modern 12,000 square foot facility with additional off-site cold storage. Using premium quality ingredients and Emma Krumbee's scratch recipes, our goal is to meet all of your baking needs with the highest standards.
